Saints

I am not catholic, but there are times when I envy their saints (like today - Happy Saint Patrick's Day!).  I love the idea that people who walked among us have miraculous powers that are used only for good.  It is the closest to super hero comics the real world gets.  Every once in a while I get a hunkering to read up on saints so I go to Catholic Online - Saints and Angels.  I wish to share a few of of my favorites.

Saint Joseph of Cupertino -  He could fly!
Saint Julian the Hospitaller - The saint of fiddlers....... and murderers.  I am not certain how fiddlers feel about that.
Saint Hubert of Liege - Patron Saint against dog bites.
Saint Ambrose of Milan - Saint of wax melters.
Saint Peter of Alcantera - Saint of watchmen -  Now you know who watches the watchmen.

I have tried in vain, however, to find a saint for cigar smokers or Pittsburgh Pirates fans.  If anyone knows differently, please share them and I will be paying homage to them real soon.
Saint Patrick's Day has always been a special day for me.  I carry the recessive redhead gene so my head is rubbed by many (even complete strangers).  People also assume that I am Irish, so I am offered free stuff.  I look forward to see what the day brings.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all.

May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow, and may trouble avoid you wherever you go. –Irish blessing

  1. Well, there are Joan of Arc Cigars and Saint Joan of Arc was burned at the stake, so maybe she would fit. You're on your own with the pirate problem.
