Screamin Jay

Like a hotdog without mustard, October would be naked without the music of Screamin Jay Hawkins in heavy rotation.  Remembered most for "I Put a Spell on You," Hawkins was one of the most unusual rock and blues entertainers ever.  He donned a cape, wore wild threads, dabbled in the dark arts and toted a skull named Henry to his performances.

Probably the most interesting fact about Screaming Jay was that he fathered over fifty children.
(Yes, you read that right.  Five and a zero - fifty).  Hawkins had so many kids that when he died in 2001 a website was put together to try and get all of them together for a reunion.

So if you're looking for some good music to complement the Halloween ghouls and ghosts in the neighborhood, check out his stuff.

Or, if you're looking for a long lost dad, you may want to research his whereabouts around the time you were conceived.

Either way, you might just find what you are looking for.

  1. Oh yes, I'm a fan of Screamin' Jay Hawkins too. However, I did not know that he fathered over fifty children. Man oh man. Or shall I say "man, woman and child." Wow. Oh well, he made up for me.
