The Sunday Evening Post

"Give me Liberty or give me Independence.  I'm not picky."
-Ralph Seymour Henry,
brother of Patrick

The week in pictures.

Winnie the Dog Wonder dutifully guarded the television during the Steelers and Ravens game.
Finally, a team that I root for won.

I had to pull every good luck charm out of my basket, but it worked.  Pittsburgh Stogies cap, Henchmen 21 Memorial shirt, and Pirates socks (not shown).

We here in Kent County, Delaware are sooooooo
phisticated.
Muckity-mucks wear muck boots and dry them on the radiator.

Happy Birthday to Nelle.  Homemade coconut and lime cupcakes for the occasion.

The Family unit took a tour of the Dog Fish Head Brewery in Milton.  I actually lived a block away from the brewery when they originally opened in Rehoboth Beach back in 1995.
The top left photo is the owner, Sam Calagione.  He has a new show on the Discovery Channel about beer from around the world.  I look forward to seeing it when it comes to Netflix.  Here is a preview from Youtube.

It was about twenty degrees out when we passed by the storage area for the lifeguard chairs near Rehoboth Beach.  The sun was setting on the horizon and snow covered the ground.
If there was ever a time for Don Henley's "Boys of Summer" to play, this was it.

With some time to kill, we stopped into a local K-Mart and spotted these masques.
I have to wonder who gave the green light for this marketing scheme.
Is the one on the top left poison sumac?  I was instantly reminded of the Japanese horror film, "Attack of the Mushroom People."

As a matter of fact, I think that there could be some licensing issues.

When was the last time you ordered a cup of tea and it was served in a John Milton cup?
Paradise Lost?
Nay - I say it has been found'd.

My son awaiting his next race at a swim meet.

A good friend of my wife was in New York and knowing of our son's obsession with cake, purchased one for him and brought it back on the train.  He was left speechless...

because his mouth was too full.

An early photo of the Delaware State University Marching Band.  It hangs in the office of a coworker, near the coffee machine.

I am still confused about the signs posted on the restrooms at the Dog Fish Head Brewery.

See you next week.

  1. Outstanding post Liberty. I'm still processing all the images. Sam's a pretty cool guy by the way. I got a good picture of him with two out of country visitors that I took for them when they were at the hotel last month. Love the Sussex County boots. By the way, isn't it nice when a team you root for finally wins? Even when they do win, you still half expect a ref call disallowing the last touchdown or home run. I guess I was a Phillies fan for too long.

  2. After years of Pirates, it feels good to see a winning Pittsburgh team. There were some scary moments, though. This Sunday should be interesting.

  3. I would just like to state for the record, that I have actually used those "face masks". They are pretty awesome, despite their atrocious advertising. To date, I have no yet turned into the aforementioned "mushroom man"....er, "mushroom woman.".

  4. Glad you've escaped unscathed, Heath. Kind of false advertising though; I'd be a little disappointed if little spearmint leaves didn't appear once I applied my mask. Know what I mean? You advertise a veritable fruit smoothie for my face, then a fruit smoothie I want!
