In a Hole

I was incredibly young but I can still remember.  The Reverend of our church had come over to the house and was speaking with my parents.  My brother and I were excused to go outside and play.  It was warm out.  We quickly found a hole next to the dog kennel that I assume my father had dug.  It was a fence post hole.  My brother and I looked down into it, but we could not see the bottom.  We threw a couple of rocks and then I decided to jump into its darkness.
I immediately found out it was deep.  It was a tight fit and I was pinned in with my arms over my head.  I heard my brother take off running and I had one thought in my mind.
I am all alone.
I heard the front door of our house slam and suddenly I was pulled straight out by my arms like a giant carrot.  It was Dad to the rescue.
It was his 1,534th act of saving my life, too.
