Sunday Evening Post

I moved to a new office and found these auspicious looking switches.  What is a dust zapper?  I was hoping for some Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, but when I flipped it, nothing happened.  Dust Zapper #3 is so potent, you can't even access it.  Don't even look at it.

 High School Basketball.  State Finals.
I was never a big fan of the sport, but these young men poured their hearts into four periods of play.  I learned a lot about life through high school sports and commend those who participate.

The Brandywine Cheerleaders had the best squad I have seen in a long time.  They were non-stop.

My son and I took a nice stroll along the railroad tracks through town.  When I was growing up, my brother and I spent endless hours combing the tracks for kicked spikes and bottles.  It felt good to be back out there.

Saturday morning was spent cooking up waffles.  I tripled the recipe and froze them all for future consumption.

 Berry Cobbler Coffee.
Is your life that hectic that you simply don't have time to enjoy a cup of joe and a serving of cobbler separately?

The 2011 Gumbo Cook Off was held in Rehoboth Beach.  A dozen restaurants entered in hopes of being crowned top gumbo maker.  My friends and I hit all twelve.  I narrowed it down to three, but I am still undecided as to which to vote for.

Natalie Portman as "The Black Swan".

Emily as "The Pink Chickadee".

Everyone around the northeast is enjoying the better weather.
Here is my nephew and a friend taking a stroll in Baltimore.

The local bank may not be able to compete with the national chains in the realm of interest rates and mortgage deals, but they hand out lollipops at the drive-thru, and that goes a long way.

My wife completed her allergy tests and it looks as if she is allergic to just about everything from cockroaches to cedar wood (I always thought she might be allergic to work, but they failed to test for that).

Our half-asleep son put his mug upside down under the tea dispenser.  Fortunately, my wife caught the mistake before disaster struck.

My favorite way to spend the weekend -
leisurely.

Lego boobies.

 My wife dubbed these "snogs."
Part sneaker, part clog; two things probably best left separate.

Here is a photo of the hostess from the Purple Parrot Restaurant during the Gumbo Cook Off.  The Parrot was voted top dog the past two competitions.  As you can see, they are not the kind of place to rest on their laurels.  They go all out.

See you next week.

  1. A very eclectic Sunday Evening Post. I was drowsy (here at work on a slow night) but that last picture woke me out of my enroaching slumber. Wow.
