Sunday Evening Post (On Monday Afternoon)

Sorry.  Computer problems on Sunday Evening shut down the weekly post until Monday afternoon.  Here they are.
One day late.
One dollar short.

Kids are cute so you don't stay angry at them for long.
It's a Darwinian survival thing.

My wife announced that she was going to cook an Indian shrimp dish and then proceeded to hand me raw shrimp and told me to grill them.  Does that constitute irony?  I can never figure out the true meaning.

My son had an ear infection that kept him out of school.  When I was his age, I had two earwigs that ate through my brain and my parents still made me attend class.

Some decent weather this week, so family friends and my crew started a couch to 5k.  I have to be prepared for the Dogfish 5K in September.

As you can see, a grandson takes precedence over a dog in my parents' house-
but not by much.

Fresh strawberries and local strawberry doughnuts.

A little beach action during the stretch.

Hey, Zoltar.  Is that a flute in your cummerbund or are you just happy to see me?

On a side note, I have been searching for a decent pair of penny loafers and finally found a very comfortable pair.
These are the Bostonian Flexlite.  Probably not good for kicking a man when he's down, but they feel great to walk in.

 Killdeer guarding its eggs.

OK.  Here's the deal.  If you find Bear because I posted this, get up with me and we'll split the two hundred dollars.
It's only fair.

If you are a Delawarean or are planning a visit, check out the Geocache program.  There are boxes hidden all over the state, and they can only be found by GPS.  As a parent of a nine-year-old, I cannot praise it enough.  This policeman figure was a trinket we took from one of the boxes hidden at the Dickinson Plantation.  The pictures below are of the estate.

The Wilmington Grand Prix Bicycle Race came flying through town.  The winner took home 25 grand.  If I had known about that, I would have been out there on my trusty Schwinn Panther.  Never hurts to try.

See you next week.

  1. My first reaction when I didn't see your Sunday Evening Post? Panic then sadness. Then tonight I checked again was very relieved to find your wonderful slice of life in Delaware Sunday Evening Post. Always a special treat and this week was no exception. Thank you again for sharing.

  2. Thanks, Ron. The weekly post has a small, cult-like following that is greatly appreciated here in central DE.
