Sunday Evening Post

The Fam Damily went to Washington, D.C.
(pronounced "warsh-ing-ton" 'round here)
to check out the nation's capitol.
We've got pictures to prove it.

We made our way to Arlington to pay respect to my Grandfather.  My Grandmother passed away this weekend and we will be returning soon to bury her with him.
Rest in Peace, Grandmom.  You are missed.

Medgar Evers, civil rights activist, is only a few rows down.

A quilt was on display with tributes to many military personnel who have died while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan after 9/11, so that their names will not be forgotten.  Their pictures show them as children.  Please take a moment to remember the name of one of Delaware's Heroes:
STEPHEN M. McGOWAN.

This lady was in a big rush at Starbucks.  She said she and her family had a big gig and she jumped in a bus and sped off.  I was able to get a quick picture of it.
Come on.
Get happy.

At the National museum you can walk among butterflies.  My wife got some in her hair...
'cause she is so sweet.
Oddly, the fly and maggot walk-through was not as popular.

We visited Mount Vernon, home of George Washington.

Now that is what I am talking about.  American youth, hard at work on the farm, building communities with old-fashioned determination...

Oh well.
I guess the world needs lolly-gaggers, too.

People getting in shape for a good cause.

The only way I could get my wife to bike with us was to attach a cup holder for her soy chai latte.

Check out the cousin's new 'do!

The Hope Diamond!

A bunch of scientists found the fossils of a giant snake.  Here is a life-size model of it swallowing an alligator.
Gee, thanks.
Just what everyone needs-
a scarier snake.

This photo was on display at the Crime and Punishment Museum.
He looks like he just remembered that he left the iron on at home.

What was left of the BBQ ribs at Country Hill, D.C.

Duck-Rabbit
Milk Stout.
Thumbs up.

A friend recommended Abita Purple Haze.
Thumbs up.

Black Flag french toast sticks finished off the week.
Henry Rollins would be proud.
See you next week.

    1. Very nice! I love the colonial gardens in Williamsburg. It's like edible art.

  2. Some post! You hit on my favorite pastime, cemeteries. I've never been to Arlington National Cemetery but am looking forward to a future visit. In a couple of weeks Bill and I will be headed south to check out the Tipton family cemeteries in the hills of western North Carolina where my father was born and lived until he was ten years old at which time my grandfather moved him and his eight brothers (and his wife) to southeastern Pennsylvania in 1929. Two more brothers were born in Pennsylvania making for a total of eleven Tipton Boys (no girls). Please accept my condolences on the loss of your grandmother. Isn't the butterfly exhibition at the National Museum great? I loved it. Tell you beautiful cousin her new hairdo is perfect!
