Cobra

"There were a couple of years where my numbers probably weren't what they should have been. But for the majority of those 10 years, from 1975 to '80, I was probably the best player in the game.... I should be in the Hall of Fame. Ain't no doubt about it." — Dave Parker, reflecting on his career, 2006

It's tough to like the guy.  It really is.
Thanks for signing my ball cap, Mr. Parker.

  1. As a Phillies die-hard...I can state that we feared him... however, his assertion is erroneous and his boast little laughable given what Mike Schmidt was doing during he same time frame.

  2. I agree. I saw him Friday night at PNC Park and decided I could not miss out on the chance to meet him. He's a giant (6'5").
I checked his stats later and was surprised to see his last year in the Bigs was 1990.
Parker exemplifies my favorite movie quote:
"Just because you are a character does not mean you have character".

  3. I haven't heard the character quote before. I like it. My favorite character quote (I may not have the words exactly right) is:

"Character is what you do when no one is looking."
